PCTR's Sequoia 20K

Real quick, here are some stats for the 20K (12.4 miles) today. A measly 1,960 feet of elevation gain. Lots of nice, rolling hills with a few long, steep ones. Compared to the last time I ran this course, I feel like I was able to run a lot more of it today. That's a good thing. I stopped a bit to take pictures. It is an absolutely beautiful park. I twisted one ankle, once. It was quite muddy, but the wet kind of mud. Not the kind that sticks to your shoes. I wasn't able to take advantage of the down hill sections, which I'm usually good at. I was just too afraid I would fall in the mud. It was colder than it was supposed to be. Thank God I did bring a warm pull-over to wear before and after the run because I ended up wearing it for the majority of the run. I also wore ear muffs and fleece gloves for a while. I finished in 3:00:09. I was very happy with that time. ;) I'm pretty sure I didn't come in last too. Yeehaw!
Please click on the photos so you can really see how pretty this course was.

I was lonely driving up to Oakland this morning. But of course, as soon as I got to the starting area I saw a few friends and met some new ones. I still wished Christy was there. After the run I hung around and chatted with Victoria for an hour or so. When I got home I made a HUGE turkey burger and took a nice long nap. Keith had been golfing with Christy's husband and when he got home he told me we were going to dinner with Christy & Steve. That made me happy. I still got to spend some time with Christy and talk to her about the race.
My ankle is a little sore. I should ice it and perhaps I still will do that before heading to bed tonight. I do get to rest tomorrow. Well deserved, I think.
Until later.............

Hey Jolynn......Great running yesterday! Can't get over how fresh you looked after 20k -- like it was nothing. I couldn't even bend over to pick up the paper with your phone number on it. Ha! Feeling pretty good this morning, sometimes it takes a day or two for the pain to really kick in!!

Looking forward to running with you soon!!

P.S. The pictures are beautiful!

K, sorry for the delay, but here are your interview questions. Can't wait to see your responses!

Interview Questions:

1.) What race are you looking forward to the most? Explain.
2.) What motivated you to get into trail running? Why?
3.) What is the most trashy TV show that you indulge in? Why?
4.) If you could have dinner with one person that you have never met, who would it be? Explain.
5.) What's your fantasy sport? Why?

To play along:
1. Leave me a comment saying, "Interview me."
2. I will respond by giving you five questions. (I get to pick the questions.)
3. You will update your blog with the answers to the questions.
4. You will include this explanation and an offer to interview others in the same post.
5. When others comment asking to be interviewed, you will ask them five questions.

Haha clearly you live in the East Bay. Cold, what cold? Okay maybe it was colder at the race. Well great job lady, yes, well deserved rest. I wish I had your Turkey burger after my long run this weekend. I see from Victoria's comment that you will be at Pirates Cove, me too, me too. Shucks I better sign up. Sarah said the slots have been selling like hot cakes. I'm sure the 50k will be the last to fill but why tempt fate. So glad I'll see you guys there, been awhile. Great pics fellow sugar monster. I gave up chocolate for Lent by the way, which means that I'll eat more of the other non-chocolate stuff of course but at least every time I get the craving I remember why I gave it up which is of course the point.

OMG how beautiful!!! What a great race, i really am so jealous that you have so many more trail runs up north than us silly so cal peeps!!! Why don't you come down here and live for a bit-you can have the 80 degree weather in Feb/March and I'll come up north and have cloudy, cool, wet weather!!! Sounds like heaven! I heard you guys got dumped on today! there wasn't a cloud in the sky here and got hot very early in the day! Nasty!

I'm rambling!

i hope you had a nice rest day! I feel like I worked all weekend-I need a vacation already!

Back to work tomorrow.....

You're so happy and fresh in the picture you look more like somebody doing a leisurely walk in the park instead of a runner on a race. The pics are great.

Maybe looking so fresh isn't great. That must be why it took me three hours to finish. I definitely don't push myself hard enough! ;)
