48 Hours

My ankle bone is still not visible. The foot is turning purple. The pain is being managed. I've been wearing my boot, except when I ice or take a shower. The involuntary twitching that wakes me up during the night is a little annoying. It's hard to believe it's not fractured, considering the pain I have but I've been told a sprain can actually hurt worse.

I realize I got a lot of mosquito bites while I was sitting on the trail waiting for help to arrive. At least I didn't get poison oak. Some muscles (I didn't know I had) are sore from hanging onto Miguel's back while he carried me down the trail.

I've been sitting in the recliner with a black kitty cat tucked in next to me. My 17 year old Baillie Girl. She hardly ever gets quality time with me so she is taking full advantage of my situation.

I'm getting more acquainted with Facebook and making friends. Mostly friends of friends. I'm still trying to get the hang of it. There's a lot I don't know about it. I have time now to learn, don't I?

My daughter is going to take me to a movie tomorrow, while Keith is golfing. He mentioned us maybe going to one this afternoon/evening.

That's about it for now.

Until later.............

oh, that was me! So, first & second!

A sprain is definitely worse than a break, I know. For me it was the same ankle. BTW, I have a tattoo in the same spot! Too funny.

Ms. Baillie will love the fact that you are home. Allow her the honour of giving her your time!...my Lily loves when I'm sidelined.

Take care and yes, welcome to the darkside FB. LOL....

get better soon,

Ouch! That looks ugly. Rest up, heal well.

That's one major ouch!

I kind of wonder if the critters just sort of know when we're not well, because mine will only hang out with me when I'm sick or injured... Or maybe it's like you said, they want the attention because they realize you're not going anywhere. :)

OMG sista, just catching up with a few free moments on vaca and I saw THIS! Are YOU kidding me? Sonofabitch! ...and I was going to try single track tomorrow just for you, but I'd be solo so maybe NOT. Ouch.

You're cankle looks like mine did on 12/31/09. Here's what I know - PT, just do it and ultrasound too, lots of it. When the time is right, get a balance ball thingy (it'll be a while) - flat one side, ball on the other - this will help to build all those small muscles in 'der. OH, I just hate this for you. Really and truly.

I have the same first reaction - I pull of my shoe and throw it. Bless it.

Ow, ow, ow! that looks so painful! You know it's bad when there's alot of internal bleeding like that. Just the swelling and clean up in the tissues will take a while to go away.

In the meantime, take everyone's advice and find something to substitute- biking, crossfit exercises, weights, yoga, whatever. You can still have fun, just change your goals for a while. Running will still be there when you're feeling better!

I should talk though- I've been grumpy and barely mobile this week too (stupid gash on my knee!).

I don't know you, but definitely feel for you. I slipped on ice in January, had a high ankle sprain (major tears) and had to wear the dreaded boot for awhile too. Funny that I discovered FB during my recovery too!

Painful. Man, oh man. I hope you got some good meds to help you sleep. Are you wearing the boot at night? If not, you should get a neoprene sleeve to wear while sleeping, though getting it on might be as painful as accidental moves during the night.

Take care of yourself. Thinking about you.

I'm so sorry - I just read. Hang in there! You can't be on the trail physically right now, but mentally you always CAN! Have a good recovery.

Oh yeah...sprains suck and hurt like a MUTHA! I sprained my ankle about 12 years ago. I was preggers at the time, was carrying little DramaGirl down some steps (totally off balance), in heels (we were going to a Raffi concert...I do not lie), missed a step and sacrificed my pregnant body to save my unborn child and the one I was holding onto.

Pathetic..huh? Pregnant woman on crutches...really awful.

Hang in there Twitter and FB are great time sucks. Hopefully, I'll see you this week.
