A swimming fool.....

This morning I drug my butt out of bed, much earlier than I like to, and was at the pool before 7:00 a.m. Judi at Miles and Madness gave me a workout for swimming that she guaranteed would make my arms feel like they were going to fall off. I read it. I printed it out. I studied it. I couldn't even do the 500 yard warm-up. Well, I could do it, but I couldn't do "an easy 500 yard warm-up" like she made it sound like I should do. This is because I don't think swimming 500 yards is "easy" yet. After I finished the 20 lengths (500 yards) I went into 100's as fast as I could. I didn't time myself but I did go fast for four lengths and then took a 30 second breather. Judi suggested 15 seconds of rest. I did this at least 10 times. After that I did 50's (two lengths) as fast as I could with short rests in between. When all was said and done, I had completed a total of 1800 yards.

This was a much more enjoyable way to swim laps. I was looking forward to trying out this workout. Just going and swimming back and forth for a mile can get boring. I felt like it went faster because I was basically counting every four lengths instead of every single one. And I feel like I'm improving, which is nice. I like swimming, yes I do! I like that it gets my heart rate up too. I'm now having to put a water bottle on the edge of the pool. I never thought swimming could be such good cardio.

Monday I went to Garin and got in a nice five mile trail run before my 1800 yard swim. Look what I spied there:

I'm not sure if he was left behind on accident or on purpose. Remember back in June, when the bad people came and hauled all of my cows away from here? I was thrilled to see this guy. Cows do make me happy.

I'm still liking Pilates a lot! I like how it's different every time. It's not something you can memorize and get bored with. And I always feel really good afterwards.

I saw Floyd Tuesday. We don't like him anymore. He tortures me now. He bends my ankle and presses very hard on muscles and tendons around my ankle. And he is STILL doing the freezing cold, electrocution treatment that I hate. I begged him not to but he says it's for my own good. Whatever dude!

That's what I've been up to. I'm feeling good. ;)

Until later.............

Uh oh, lost random cow, yeah, they're not usually hanging out alone!

Now maybe you can see what I mean when I said my sprained ankle was 'the best thing' that happened for my swimming this year;) It really was. I would have never gotten faster if I wasn't sidelined from running!

Boo for Floyd and his mean PT treatments!!!

Yay for the cow!!

I like swim workouts too, but never seem to have time for more than 1000 or 1200. Yay you!!

Glad you are still so very active and getting your workouts done, despite Floyd.

Poor little lonely cow, you'll have to take him (her) home, Boomer would like a big friend.

Looks like Garin is your favorite. I will love to hear this since I've feel connected with the park after a couple trail work there. Enjoy it!

Be persistent with the swimming. It pays huge dividends for running as well as overall fitness. Good luck with the rest of the rehab.

So glad you liked it! another thing you can try is the pull bouy. your pool should have them, ask the lifeguard. next time, your w/u can be like a 200swim, 200pull and a 200k. how about that? :)

Cupcakes I can pass on...now if it were ice cream or cheese...NO WAY!!

Imagine me walking double fisting cupcakes, that make me laugh.

Good work on the swim!

That cow would make me happy too...I love it when I see birds and bunnies while running..

Awesome job on the swimming! Sometimes I find the biggest challenge is just getting in the water, and, finding an open lane!

You're really rockin' the swimming. It makes me want to get on the swimming bandwagon again.

I like that cows make you happy. :)

I don't like that Floyd is busting out some pain inflicting treatments!

Have a wonderful weekend!
