Happy legs, happy dogs, happy times!

I hauled Jana back up to Oakland this morning to see if we could play around in Joaquin Miller & Redwood Parks without getting lost like we did a couple of weeks ago. Well, we didn't get AS lost as we did last time. I consider the day a success.

I have Bella spending a couple of days with us so I brought her along today. The weather was cool, a little overcast for the majority of the day. The dogs LOVE this kind of weather and the soft, moist ground. They were running up and down the side of the trails, hopping through the mud puddles. We spent 3.5 hours today, running around the Sequoia Bayview Trail, the West Ridge Trail and the French Trail. All four dogs were laying down in my car, with their heads down, on the way home. Now that's a good day!

The ONLY water hole and all the dogs found it at the same time.

Spike climbs trees!
I am amazed at how great my legs feel. With the Pilates and swimming this past week, I figure my legs have been stretched more than they have in the past two years. They don't feel tight at all. I always felt tight before. As a runner, I never took time to stretch. I'm thrilled with how they feel. It could be the rest they've been getting too, but they feel GOOD! They want to move super fast. They just want to go, go, GO. I must say I like it!
I did Pilates yesterday and swam 2100 yards afterwards. Repeat on the schedule for tomorrow. And yes, I'm happy about it. ;)
Until later.............

Great pics as always.

See how this works out? You get injured. You think it's bad. You are forced to rest. You are forced to try new things. Your body likes the rest. Your body likes the new things. You begin to heal. Life is good. :-)

I remember those beautiful trees from doing the 30k Redwood Park event only 2 weeks after the Big Sur Marathon (road version) and only a week before Big Basin. I thought I was in trouble for BB because of how bad I felt for the next few days, but I did OK considering. Thanks for helping me remember how pretty it was (I only took a few pics for that event; fortunately, I got more pics at BB). Glad you now have a sense for the benefits of stretching for running! That will help your running future :). Ann
